Unit 2: Industry Roles and Professional Practice 2

Having little experience in children’s animation as a storyboard artist, I want to continue storyboarding for more productions in TV. Though it is a saturated market, many artists get their start by taking on a storyboard revisionist role. A storyboard revisionist gets handed boards from the story artist for any corrections, alterations or additions to shots and scenes. Though not as creatively fulfilling as a full-on storyboard artist, a revisionist still gets to pick up many skills through seeing what the director needs.

In terms of finding relevant work, I’ve been keeping an eye out for any job listings through Google spreadsheets and animation communities. As for animation communities, I tend to share a lot of my art on Reddit, where I can get high engagement and connect with people on niche subreddits. I’ve been invited to a few Discord servers where members of the group share their own work, client (black)lists, plus freelance job openings to anyone interested.
